Over the last decade, the Oral Health Progress and Equity Network (OPEN) has emerged from a nationwide conversation among policymakers, providers, public health activists, and grassroots organizers who understand that today’s system of health care isn’t working for everyone’s overall health and well-being. They recognize that it’s time to work together to build a new reality. The Network started as “OH2014,” evolved into “OH2020,” and today is OPEN—a national network of over 2,200 members taking on America’s oral health challenges so that everyone has an equitable chance to thrive.
The Network is supported by the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health and other diverse partners as it expands its footprint and sustainability. Steps are underway to establish a 501(c)(3) organization that is designed to further catalyze needed systemic change in order to create a more equitable nation. OPEN will be supported and managed by this non-profit organization. Currently, the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) serves as the fiduciary for the Network’s support.
